We’re proud to have been able to offer free classes throughout the months of April and May; we’ve seen the value that these classes have for our community, and our teachers have really enjoyed the new format.
We understand that not everyone can afford to pay for classes right now, and we’re committed to keeping our online classes accessible for everyone who finds joy and structure in them. That said, as the closure of non-essential businesses continues, PSCA is facing mounting financial pressure.
For the month of June, we’re changing the language of our classes to “$10 suggested donation per class.” If you can afford this donation, we appreciate it – if you can afford to pay a little extra, please do. We do want everyone to understand that they’re still welcome in class even if they can’t afford the donation right now; it’s just becoming important that we bring in some income if we want PSCA to survive. Right now the best way to submit your contribution is through Venmo: @phillycircus.
Even once campus reopens, we’ll have to observe social distance and limits on the number of people in classes and in the building. That means that virtual classes are here to stay for a while, and eventually we’ll have to charge everyone a small fee for classes. We’re committed to continuing to offer donation-only classes as long as the city is in the red or yellow phases, but once we enter the green phase and the building can open back up, all our classes (in-person and virtual) will return to being fee based.
We would like to thank everyone who has continued to support the school with donations, memberships and account credits in lieu of refunds! Your supportive emails and kind words mean everything to our team right now, and we’re optimistic that we’ll be able to phase back in to operations when it’s safe and ethical to do so…until then, we’re adapting as best we can to this virtual, stay-at-home reality!
With lots of gratitude,
The PSCA Team
